My system won’t update to the newest version because of it’s graphic hardware?
Also hate upgrade. Will ditch this app.
Loved this on my late 2008 unibody MacBook…then updated to Mavericks…still worked great…then the 1.0.2 update came out, and it says that my video hardware is not supported…not cool guys…5 stars if that issue gets fixed… UPDATED AFTER 1.0.3… This was supposed to address the issue….nope….same deal. But If I update my 2012 Mac Mini and copy the file to my MacBook it works fine…not really a graphics issue...
OK, my 2010 MacBook Pro may no longer be state-of-the-art, but it’s no slouch either. Prior versions run, but the latest version gives an error that it does not support the graphics hardware on my computer. Heck I’ve not found a game that I can’t run because my computer is too old, why can’t I run a simple screen saver?
Meh!
I can’t update to the new version. It says it doesn’t support my graphics hardware: Macbook Pro 13” 2011, i7, 16gb ram, 512gb SSD. Can you fix this, please? UPDATE: Works again. All is good.
I downloaded it and I can preview it, but that is it. It does not show up in my settings and the screensaver does not kick in. Waste of money!
There seems to be an incompatibility problem / glitch / or software issue with this screen saver. I have an IMac 27 Desktop and also a MAC Pro 17” Laptop. Problem works great on my Desktop IMac 27 but does not work on my Laptop Mac Pro. On my Laptop it also shows on my AppStore icon that I have an update associated with Clear Day, but when I try to update it gives me an error message that the software could NOT update becasue it is not compatable with my MAC Pro 17 inch laptop ?????? Then I cannot seem to get rid of the update alert message from my App Store program. What is the problem ??
Looked cool and I thought maybe there was more to it than the screen shots indicated but no, that’s it. List a couple of cities and the screensaver rotates the globe, places a pointer and shows current weather. The quality of the image on the globe is pretty poor as well. Globe image also is static, does not update to reflect current weather. Not worth the price.
Nice screen saver. Not heavily featured - global images aren’t high quality or current weather, but does give a nice rotating view of cities and weather while the screen sleeps.
I like the idea, and it seems nice enough, but I’m not likely to use it full-time. The experience is not very smooth on my machine; animations are choppy, it’s slow to load, and it exits unexpectedly. It also requires its companion application to launch at startup and stay running, which is probably fine for folks with ample resources, but I’d rather not give it 200 MB of RAM at all times.
I finally got it working it’s been 3 or 4 months since I purchased it. If you’re having problems with the app for example if it has problems even launching check your file system with Disk Utility and see if it’s a “case sensitive” file system. I switch from "case sensitive” back to OS X default of “case insensitive” which I hate but after the re-install the app launched. I didn’t re-install just to get this app working I decided to do it because my Mac was running on 4 years up OS X upgrades so I figured it was time to clean house. I’m kind of disappointed, it’s extremely underwhelming compared to the Clear Day app itself. It would be nice if there were more options for example to show the videos of the current weather condition for the city being displayed, but instead it just spins the globe to the city and displays weather stats. Honestly for all the it does I’m not sure why it needs to run as in independent app instead of a screen saver in the preference panel. This is an good reason for Apple to allow “trial/demo” periods for software. Had I know it was so crash prone prior to buying it I wouldn’t have purchased it. Also one of the “preference” is an advertisement for the “Clear Day” app.
I hate when an app pesters you for a rating.
It seems like a good idea could have more features… and it could stay on the cities a little longer… oh and its really annoying it goes through the cities a few times then turns black. whats up with that?
I really like the appearance of the Clear Day Screensaver and completely enjoyed it, if it weren’t for the “but”. But… after a few complete system hangs while it was running I decided it was not worth the aggravation. I will wait for an update or two before trying it again.
Not what I wanted. I don’t want my computer screen on all night so that burglars can see it through the window. My energy saver settings are set to dim the screen after an hour. This app does not work with the energy saver settings. It is an app, not a screensaver.
This screen saver is a bit squirrly the way it works and sort of weird to set up, but once you get it running it actually looks pretty good and works well. Unique rendition of the spinning globe and the weather reports appear quite accurate. Sorta cool how it shows the local time wherever the globe is at that moment. Its a good value at $2. Had an issue and customer support cleared it up right away. That means a lot. I recommend it.
Pro’s: This is honestly the best screensaver I’ve seen yet. This is very aesthetic, and quite impressive! This is something I would expect to see on all of the devices in an Apple store. It’s responsive, smooth, sleek, and fun. Con’s: Only one (if not a “con”, more of a concern really)… I notice that on my Macbook Pro 15” Retina 2013 laptop, the Nvidia display card is triggered and stays activated as long as the screensaver is loaded. The Intel card never gets used anymore, as long as the screensaver application is loaded on my system. If I exit out of it from the status bar, which is to say that the screensaver no longer kicks in when the system is idle according to settings, the Intel card goes back into use.
When it works, I like it a lot. However, sometimes my mac screensaver starts instead and I don’t know why. Also, even when clear day is running, if the mouse moves or the trackpad is touched, the mac screensaver starts up. I sent an email for help but have not received a response.
Great Screensaver App. The only improvement (at least to my taste) would be to show the sunlit and dark portions of the earth as you rotate to your favorite cities. This would necessitate showing city lights and maybe not a completely opaque dark area, but rather a shaded one. Otherwise, very nice.
