Clear Day™: Screensaver (Screen Saver) App Reviews

Okay for $2 I guess...

Not so much a "beautifully designed" or "spectacular" 3D globe as it is a smooshy watercolour effect, devoid of useful detail, wrapped around a sphere. Low resolution clouds on top of all that. Movement is at times jerky even on a new MacBook. Very little user preferences such as delay before globe rotates to next city, size of weather info or choice of what info to display. Id love to be able to remove the icon from my menubar. This has potential but Im hoping for a sharper, more detailed, and more robust version 2.

Great app

Great animation and accuracy

Very nice, fun to look at

A very nice screensaver, accesses weather info for obscure places, such as where I live.

Terrible looking

As a paid for screensaver I would have expected some quality visuals. Unfortunately this screensaver looks aweful. With the Earth looking so Photoshop filtered, and a terrible starscape texture around it, I dont ever want to let my Mac be idle enough to go to the screensaver. Uninstalled after about 1 minute. Very unfortunate that I fell for the higher ratings and paid for this.

Dont Fall for the Trap

I fell for the trap of thinking that it was my WALLPAPER. Its not, just incase thats what you are thinking to. Its decent in the fact that it looks pretty cool and provides all the wheather information that you would ever need to see. The problem for me is I dont use the screensavers that often unless I forget to turn my computer off. I find myself just Shutting down my computer or putting it to sleep because fortunatly these Macs are just pleasantly fast. If you are like me I would recommend you save a couple bucks and go by a few songs on itunes. Youll use them more often, believe me. If youre not like me, which is probably a good thing, and you usually use screen savers, then I do recommend it.

broken

Used to work on my 2011 MBA, now it says my video card isnt good enough. Wasted my money.

mr cletus

awesome works most places up north

Asked for a refund

While the concept is good, the screensaver is very glitchy, takes forever to load (Mac Mini Quad Core) and graphics don’t even seem to be HD resolution. Clear Day is great on my iPad mini, but forget about the OS X version. It’s not just polished enough. I asked Apple for a refund.

Does not work with Yosemite

I’m unable to make it working in OS X 10.10 Yosemite, I can preview the screensaver but when I press ESC the whole computer hangs and needs hard reset. After reboot app does not start automatically. Needs fixing. In overall screensaver seems OK.

Works poorly

Missing features: * hi res photos of cities meteo * BOTH local and currently showing citys clock time * stop bragging about buying this screensave in Clear Day - at least after installing it Bugs and severe security issue: * sometimes default screen screensaver shows up "under" Clear Day: Screensaver instead of showing login screen * password not always shows up when screensaver is exited, i.e. you can directly login into the system w/o entering password Disabled until bugs are solved.

Great software

High quality screensaver, good graphic. stable and colorful. I suggest Clear Day™ also for day sleepers and to know weather conditions. My vote: 10/10

Nice concept, still needs work

I like having the view of weather and locations (similar to another favorite iOS app, Living Earth), my main complaint is that whenever this screensaver runs my CPU usage goes through the roof. Since I use a lot of virtual machines, my CPU is already at a premium. Ive had to uninstall this app for now. Im hopiing they create a fix in the future.

Needs to improve - Looks awful on 27" iMac

The title says it all. The concept is great, but this was obviously intended for smaller screens. Dont be fooled by the preview image.

Works advertised, but graphic quality is at best meh...

Overall, the application works as it is described. The concerns others have posted relating to lack of intergration with the OS System Preferences really isnt a big deal to me. It is something of a "bolt on" however. Also, if you use a password for your screensaver, Clear Day drops you back to the OS selected screensave to authenticate versus being able to do so itself. But again, this is minor in my view. The disappointing thing to me is the quality of the globe graphic. With a retina screen, it could be so much more. Im not terribly unhappy with the purchase, but I would probably not recommend others to purchase it.

Disappointing

The app has potential, and the fundamental design isnt bad. That said, the fact that this isnt integrated as a Mac screen saver is a fatal flaw. As a result this app is incapable of locking the screen, and also incompatible with the sleep settings. Recommend to avoid.

Clear Day Screensaver

Clear Day is an interesting screen saver to watch. The continental outline is a little too defined for my taste but I like the concept of stopping at chosen points on the globe even though it sometimes rotates in the opposite direction to find the next location which doesnt appear natural. If the cloud representation is in actual real time that would be good to know, however, if its for display only, Id like to see the continents without them. Overall its a good app but not great like the regular Clear Day weather app.

A good start

I like this screensaver. It looks quite beautiful on my non-Retina Macbook Pro. It could improve, however, by becoming a “real,” better integrated Mac screensaver. It also only works on one display - it would be nice to do something with additional screens rather than just blacking them out.

Really a Very Impressive App

The App comes up beautiful on my 27 iMac and the alerts work great living beachside here in Florida. I highly recommend this App to anyone who really wants to get all the weather information for their day and week ahead. Awesome!!!

“Upgrade” killed it.

I had this app installed and it worked fine. Then this new “upgrade” came out and the App Store said that it couldn’t download because the graphics system on my Mid-2011 Macbook Air didn’t support it. Needless to say I promptly deleted this app from my system.

Mesmerizing and Useful

Though the initial set up instructions were not quite as detailed as my “by the numbers” mind would have liked them to be, I love the application and find it useful as well as somewhat mesmerizing. After figuring out how to make changes it is really easy to manipulate. Good Job!
